Methodology
The calculator uses branch-level score structures and component maximums from current public service guidance where available. Raw user results are converted in the browser into component points, totals, pass status, and class. The purpose is to give a useful planning estimate from raw performance, not to replace an official test administrator or service system of record.
myptscore.us treats the scoring data as a source-backed dataset. Each branch is modeled separately because the services do not use one shared formula. Some branches publish row-by-row scoring tables. Others publish public standards but keep current administrative material behind authenticated systems. The site labels those differences so a user can tell when a result is exact row lookup and when it is a public-readiness estimate.
Current Source Review
- Army Fitness Test public guidance and AFT scoring scales, approved May 15, 2025 and effective June 1, 2025. Army events use official point-row lookup by event, sex, and age group.
- Navy Guide 5A Physical Readiness Test tables dated December 2025 for age groups 17-65+. Standard-altitude run, 2-km row, 500-yard swim, and 450-meter swim events use official row lookup.
- Air Force PFRA public guidance and 2026 scoring charts for the 50-20-15-15 structure. Air Force raw events use row lookup instead of min/max interpolation.
- Space Force SPFMAN 36-2905 Human Performance Assessment guidance, including Change 3 dated April 24, 2026. Space Force HPA uses the 100-point 60/20/20 structure and reweights profile 2-km walk passes against assessed components.
- Marine Corps public PFT/CFT standards with official age groups and published min/max rows for PFT and CFT events. Marine component points are calculated from those published scoring bounds with service-table rounding.
- Coast Guard public fitness-program standards. Latest service-wide 2026 Physical Readiness Program references are CAC-gated, so the public calculator uses available public Coast Guard standards as a readiness estimate.
How raw results become scores
For row-based sources, the calculator compares the user entry to the stored row thresholds for the selected branch, test, age group, sex, and event. Time events are scored in the faster-is-better direction. Repetition, shuttle, weight, and plank events are scored in the higher-is-better direction. Body-composition entries are converted only when the selected branch and test use them as a scored component.
When a branch uses component maximums, the calculator keeps those maximums visible in the report. For example, the Air Force PFRA and Space Force HPA do not use the same component weights. The Space Force HPA path is modeled as a 100-point score with 60 cardiorespiratory points, 20 muscular-strength points, and 20 muscular-endurance points.
How exemptions and profiles are treated
Exemptions and profile events are handled as planning scenarios. The calculator can show how the assessed components would combine, but it cannot determine whether an exemption is authorized, whether a medical profile is valid, or how a service record system will store the result. Users should confirm those decisions through the official chain and current service instructions.
Quality controls
- Inputs are raw performance fields, not point fields, so users do not have to know the score before using the calculator.
- Event choices are dropdown-driven where practical to reduce invalid combinations.
- Branch guides explain the scoring structure instead of copying tables without context.
- Public-source limitations are disclosed directly, especially for Coast Guard material that is not fully public.
- Smoke tests verify core public pages, crawler files, health endpoints, manifest delivery, and branch-guide availability before deployment.
Calculation Limits
Some service tables are age, sex, event, altitude, status, or waiver dependent. Official submission remains the applicable service system of record, especially for waivers, altitude compensation, medical exemptions, combat-arm standards, and body-composition policy decisions.
The site should be treated as a planning calculator. If a score affects a record test, promotion action, school packet, retention decision, profile, or disciplinary matter, verify the result against the official source and the local administrator.
